What a cookie actually is

A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser. Some are essential to a service working — staying signed in, keeping a basket. Others exist to recognise a visitor from one site to the next in order to advertise to them. Only the second kind needs your consent.

What this site stores

Nothing while you browse. The pages are static: they keep no information between visits and do not recognise you from one page to the next.

An anonymous count of pages read. We know how many people read each page, with no cookie, no identifier that follows you and no way to trace anything back to you. The figures are aggregated.

An anti-robot check on the Contact page, only at the moment you send the form. It tells a person apart from an automated program and keeps the inbox free of spam. It may store a technical token for the duration of the submission. It does not follow you and serves no advertising.

No advertising, no social networks. No advertising pixel, no tracking share button, no video embedded from an outside platform.

Why it is built this way

A consent banner degrades the experience of every visitor in order to collect data this site does not need. Knowing which pages are read is plenty; knowing who reads them adds nothing. The regulatory burden disappears along with it, which is the surest way not to get it wrong.

Technical logs

Like any site, the hosting infrastructure keeps technical logs for a short time — IP address, date, page requested — needed for security and attack detection. They are not used commercially, not cross-referenced with other sources, and are purged automatically.

If this changes

If a tool that stores cookies were ever added, this page would be updated and a consent mechanism put in place before any collection. The date at the top of the page is what counts.
